Free National Park Days 2011

When I was growing up I had the wonderful opportunity to visit MANY of our National Parks.  Did you know that many of the National Parks are FREE year round?   The 100+ national parks that usually charge entrance fees offer FREE admission days several times a year.  Making the fun even more affordable, many national park concessioners are joining the National Park Service in welcoming visitors with their own special offers.  How sweet is that? Here are the dates for 2011:

January 15-17 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday weekend)
April 16-24 (National Park Week)
June 21(First day of summer)
September 24 (Public Lands Day)
November 11-13 (Veterans Day weekend)

Free National Park Admission This Summer

When I was growing, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel. Once a year we would go from Florida to California visit my grandparents. My dad would take a different route every trip so we could see all parts of the United States. Whenever possible we would camp in National Parks. If you are traveling this summer you are lucky because admission to nearly 100 National Parks are free on the following dates:

*June 5 -6,2010
*August 14-15, 2010
*September 25, 2010
*November 11, 2010
Go here for more information. Go here to search for a park by name, state or other criteria.

* Note 392 parks are free EVERYDAY.

National Park Week

Now that spring is here it is a great time to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather. To make it easier to experience America's Great Outdoors, the National Park Service is waiving entrance fees, so visitors can enjoy all 392 national parks for free April 17-25. Also, Saturday, April 24, is National Junior Ranger Day, and children can take part in kid-friendly activities and earn their very own junior ranger patch! To get additional information and to find a National Park near you go to http://www.nps.gov/npweek .
